Taking care of my skin is very important to me. If my face and hair aren’t feeling or looking good or comfortable, I don’t feel good or comfortable. So I want to fill you all in on the tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years.
Night time routine –
the first step I do is wipe off any makeup I have on my face. Next, I apply Manuka Honey all over my face and let it sit until I’ve gotten a washcloth wet with really hot water. Make sure you can still handle how hot the washcloth is because you put it on your face. The purpose of the washcloth is to allow the pores on your face to open up and for the honey to do it’s job. Once the washcloth has cooled to room temperature, remove it and wash the rest of the honey off of your face.
Second step of my night time routine is to use Nerium Age-Defying Night Cream. It is an all around product that helps reduce wrinkles, fine lines, redness, evens out skin tone, and helps with reducing and diminish acne. My other top product I have used at night is Sibu Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil. All you need are just a few drops. The oil goes a long way and it shouldn’t get on your pillow case. Just in case, I always have a darker colored pillow case.
Day time routine –
I wash my face as normal in the shower with regular soap. I am still using Sibu Nourishing Facial Cream as my day time moisturizer. I have also had really good luck with Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid Lotion.
Bi-weekly/Bi-monthly routine –
Once or twice a week, or once every other week, I will do a facial scrub. I like to use this one, St. Ives Even & Bright Citrus Scrub. Because I keep up with exfoliating my face, I don’t have to do it all that often anymore. It is, however, a good idea to use some sort of scrub to exfoliate at least once a month.
I also will do a clay mask once a month or more which helps pull out the toxins in your face. I use Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay as well as Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. You can use an off brand of raw apple cider vinegar, but just make sure it’s raw and it’s organic.
To make the clay mask:
2 tablespoons of clay
1 tablespoon of ACV
Mix together, and apply to your face. Let sit 20-30 minutes, until it’s dried. Then wash it off and moisturize!
Acne Tips –
Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. I use this to calm down a bad flare up. It doesn’t clear up things very well, but it does help when I might have acne that’s really painful and red.
My favorite trick is this. Banana peel. take an unpeeled banana and open it. Tear off a small piece and rub the underside against the flare up. Keep rubbing the peel on your face until a brown residue forms. It will feel tight, but wait about 15-20 minutes until washing it off.
Please comment and share any tips you might have for taking care of your skin! I’d love to hear ideas!
